A family affair.

For 3 generations, the Bastiat family has been dedicated to the manufacture of seating. Bastiat was founded on April1, 1964 by Marcelle and Joseph Bastiat. They had met and learned their trade at the Capdevielle factory. One in the joinery workshop, the other in the finishing workshop.

Their children, Alain and Michel, grew up surrounded by wood chips, the smell of wood, tools, fabrics and varnishes. In 2000 Alain took over the management of the company with his wife Geneviève. At the time, Bastiat was a well-known manufacturer of classic chairs.

In 2014, they decided to create Bosc, a contemporary furniture brand. In 2022 Sylvain, their son, joins them to ensure the brand’s international development.

Creation.

We work with renowned designers and up-and-coming talents to create a contemporary style of solid woodwork, with clean, original lines that are often round and soft.

Our collections are characterized by an acute sense of detail and a particular attention to color harmony and subtlety.

Sourcing.

The origin of the wood we use is of paramount importance to us. The oak comes from eco-managed forests in Sologne. Beech comes from the eco-managed forests of the Jura. Walnut comes from Canada. 95% of our fabrics are natural (linen, wool, cotton) and European.

Cabinetmaking.

Working with wood requires rigor, meticulousness and humility. Our craftsmen, who know that every gesture counts and that wood is respected, are trained to meet the challenges and constraints imposed by demanding design, while respecting the final functionality and comfort of users.

Machining.

While craftsmanship and manual work remain the basis of our expertise, we have invested in top-of-the-range high-tech equipment to increase our production capacity while maintaining an extremely rigorous quality control chain.

Tapestry.

Handcrafted par excellence, high-end tapestry is a high-precision craft. Attention to detail is at the heart of the work of our upholsterers, who patiently and meticulously dress our wooden structures every day, adapting to the textures and flexibility of each fabric.
